“X-Files” Actors Gillian Anderson And  David Duchovny Feud

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, the dynamic FBI combination from “The X-Files,” may be loved by science fiction fans and government conspiracy theorists alike, but the stars aren’t. In every aspect possible, the two on-screen personas go together like peanut butter and jelly. Fans, on the other hand, frequently impose this relationship on the actors. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are not and have never been a couple, contrary to a common misconception. If you know anything about the behind-the-scenes drama on “The X-Files,” you undoubtedly know that the stars don’t get along. Of course, that didn’t stop the two from being professionals and together for 11 seasons between 2003 and 2018. You might even see the two interacting on social media.

Duchovny And Anderson Were Anything But Friends On The Set Of The X-Files.

Even though Mulder and Scully went from professional colleagues to romantic partners throughout “The X-Files,” the actors weren’t very fond of one other. Gillian Anderson acknowledged in a 2015 interview that “There were probably times when we despise one another. We didn’t talk for extended stretches. It was intense, and we were both a pain in the arse for each other at different points.”

Similarly, David Duchovny has been open about how the two of them battled to get along.”Familiarity breeds contempt,” he said in 2008. “We used to argue about nothing. We couldn’t endure looking at each other.” Despite their constant antagonism, the two managed to maintain a steady working relationship throughout the run of “The X-Files.” This may appear counterintuitive, as it may feel impossible to act alongside someone you despise, especially when your characters are so intertwined. However, when you look deeper into the pair’s professional relationship, it makes a lot of sense.

The Actors Are Not Friends But Have Professional Attitudes.

So far, it appears that everything David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have said about each other has been unpleasant. However, if you ask either actor at any point in time, you’ll discover that they have a deep respect for one another. This was most likely the reason they were able to work so closely on “The X-Files” set for so long. Their mutual regard has always taken precedence over their interpersonal concerns. It’s why, even if they were vocal about their hate for each other, you rarely saw them bad-mouthing each other to the press.

Fans Love To Ship The Screen Couple Together.

While it’s difficult to call them close friends, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have grown closer over the years. They’ve gotten close enough that they’re willing to take selfies with each other. Anderson captioned a photo of the two with her cute pup on Instagram in April, “Stella made a new buddy today.” Even yet, the two aren’t particularly close. Anderson’s selfie is the only time the two have connected on social media thus far. Having said that, they now have a lot more favorable connections than they did when they were coworkers. Even so, supporters continue to ship the two like there’s no tomorrow.
