Will Smith slap Chris Rock for what reason?
In response to a joke that Chris Rock had made Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, actor Will Smith went on stage and slapped him. It seems that the comedian’s comment that Jada’s shaved haircut resembled the iconic movie character G.I. Jane did not impress the Men in Black star. Since 2018, Jada has been openly suffering from the alopecia condition that causes hair loss.
In a skit, Rock told the Oscars audience seat in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, “Jada, GI Jane 2, I can’t wait to see that.” The 50-year-old Jada looked visibly irritated and rolled her eyes at the remark. Though, Will Smith was the one who decided to act. However, in front of a shocked audience, Will got up from his seat and stormed the stage, where he proceeded to slap Chris Rock in the face.
Chris who was shocked attempted to dismiss the situation. “Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me,” he remarked, rubbing his cheek. Returning to the front row, Will yelled to the audience, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth”
Has Will Smith offered Chris Rock an apology?
Yes, a day after the altercation, Will Smith shared a formal apology to Chris Rock on Instagram. He wrote, “Chris, I would like to openly apologize to you. “I made a mistake and stepped out of line. I feel ashamed because they did not reflect the kind of man I want to be. In a world of love and generosity, violence has no place.” Will declared his actions “inexcusable” and “unacceptable.” He continued by saying that when the joke regarding his wife’s illness, he “reacted emotionally.”
