How to Fix: Apple Watch Keeps Zooming In

One of the best wearables you can get is the Apple Watch. However, some people may find it a little small when reading texts or messages. Apple included the Zoom feature in watchOS 8 that allows you to expand text and other elements on your watch display. For people with visual impairments or partial blindness, it’s a useful addition to watchOS.

Once used, the feature makes it possible to view the watch’s display considerably more clearly without having to strain your eyes. However, when it doesn’t work, it might be annoying. In reality, while using your Apple Watch, you can discover that the display is locked in the enlarged mode. Rest assured that returning to the standard view is rather simple.

How To Fix Apple Watch Issue With Constant Zooming

If your Apple Watch is locked in Zoom In mode, there are a few methods you can try to restore it to full view.

Method 1: Double-Tap The Screen

You only need to tap your wearable display twice with two fingers to zoom in on the Apple Watch. To zoom out, just turn the Digital Crown button counterclockwise, although sometimes this does not work. Try double-tapping the display on your Apple Watch with two fingers to return to full view. Alternatively, if you’ve already set Zoom to the Accessibility shortcut, you can zoom out by pressing the Digital Crown button three times.

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch and choose Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut to access the accessibility shortcut. With a triple-click, you will be able to configure the Digital Crown button to enable or disable VoiceOver, Zoom, or Touch Accommodations.

Method 2: Remove The Screen Protector

If you have a screen protector on your Apple Watch and the screen keeps zooming in without your touch, you might want to take it off. It’s worth a try because a screen protector might turn on the Zoom-in feature by itself. Restart your Apple Watch after removing it to see if the issue has been resolved. Press and hold the side button until the Power Off slider shows on the Apple Watch, then drag the slider to switch it off. Press and hold the side button once more until the Apple logo appears after your watch turns off. Remove the charger if your Watch is currently charging before resuming it.

Method 3: Adjust Your Watch’s Zoom Settings

On your Apple Watch, you can change how much you want to zoom in or out. Change the Zoom settings if your Apple Watch is stuck in the Zoom In mode. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Zoom to make it happen. Check to see if the issue persists after adjusting the slider to your preferred zoom level.

Method 4: Turn It Off

If none of the above solutions work, we advise turning it off and getting rid of the accessibility shortcut that activates the Zoom feature. Zoom can be disabled on the Apple Watch and the iPhone.

Using iPhone

Select the My Watch tab in the Apple Watch app once it is open.

Turn off Zoom by selecting Accessibility and then tapping it.

Using Apple Watch

Open the Watch’s Settings app.

Choosing Accessibility

Turn the Zoom switch off. You should receive a notification from your watch when the feature is disabled.

If Zoom is already one of your accessibility shortcuts, you might want to remove it to see if the issue has been resolved. To disable Zoom, open the Settings app on your watch, choose Accessibility, and then uncheck the Zoom option.

Method 5: Force A Restart

Try executing a force restart if you have tried everything else but nothing has worked. It’s an excellent way to resolve a variety of Apple Watch issues, including frozen apps, bugs, and glitches.
