The Halloween Movies In Order

October is all about gearing up in quintessential halloween costume but you wouldn’t be making the most out of this spooky month if you don’t binge-watch some classic halloween movies. If you’re hunting down the best movies to watch in this month, start off by following the complete Halloween movie series

You must be wondering how many Halloween movies there are till date, well there are 13. The most recent of them was Halloween Kills and another is on the verge of getting released, Halloween Ends. It will be released on October 14, 2022. However, if you plan on watching all of the existing ones, you must know that they’re not in a chronological order. This was the result of the several reboots carried out on the film series by several directors. Thats why the order of the movies can get a bit challenging.

Fortunately for you, we have broken down each movie and have made a list in order. This will save your time immensely and all you will have to get worried about will be the right snacks and beverages whilst binge-watching them.

Halloween – 1978

This movie is where it all started, the first one of the lot.

Plot: Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital. He then plans on returning to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, to kill again.

Halloween II – 1981

Halloween II picks right up from the first part left.

Plot: After Doctor Samuel Loomis shoots Michael Myers six times, Michael escapes and is now on the loose in Haddonfield. Laurie Strode is taken to the hospital and Doctor Loomis continues to hunt down Michael with the help of the police. Michael continues killing the citizens of Haddonfield and heads to the hospital to kill Laurie. It’s now up to an Injured Laurie and Doctor Loomis to stop Michael and his murderous rampage.

Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers – 1988

We skipped Halloween III because it didn’t fall in line with the order. Halloween 4 takes place 10 years later when Michael wakes up from a coma.

Plot: Ten years after his original massacre, the invalid Michael Myers awakens on Halloween Eve and returns to Haddonfield to kill his seven-year-old niece. Can Dr. Loomis stop him once again?

Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers – 1989

After Michael gets shot yet again and is thrown in a mineshaft, he survives again and goes into another coma.

Plot: It’s one year later after the events of Halloween 4. Michael survives the shootings and on October 31st he returns with a vengeance. Lurking and stalking Jamie, Rachel, and Rachel’s friends, Michael forms a plan to lure Jamie out of the children’s hospital where events lead up to the confrontation at the Myers house.

Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers – 1995

Now the events pick up pace six years after the aforementioned part.

Plot: Six years after Michael Myers last terrorized Haddonfield, he returns there in pursuit of his niece, Jamie Lloyd, who has escaped with her newborn child, for which Michael and a mysterious cult have sinister plans.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later – 1998

There’s a strange homecoming of a character that was presumed dead previously.

Plot: Twenty years after Michael Myers’ massacre in Haddonfield, Laurie Strode faked her own death, traveled to California, and took on the identity Keri Tate. Michael discovers Laurie’s new identity and travels to California to kill his sister. Laurie must now take on her brother with her son’s life at stake.

Halloween: Resurrection – 2002

After a long and sinister hunt, Michael finally kills his sister, again.

Plot: Freddie and Nora are the heads of a new reality website called Dangertainment. For their first broadcast, they decide to hire a group of college students to explore the ruins of the infamous murderer Michael Myers home. Six cash-strapped friends decide to explore the home. What they don’t know is that Michael is on his way home back to Haddonfield, and unless they can stop him, they’ll become his next victims.

Halloween – 2018

In this reboot, Halloween serves as a direct sequel of the first Halloween movie dating back to 1978.

Plot: Laurie Strode confronts her long-time foe, Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Halloween: Kills – 2021

After Laurie gets to the hospital whilst Michael is burned in her basement, he yet again rises from the ashes to go on a killing spree.

Plot: “The nightmare isn’t over as unstoppable killer Michael Myers escapes from Laurie Strode’s trap to continue his ritual bloodbath. Injured and taken to the hospital, Laurie fights through the pain as she inspires residents of Haddonfield to rise up against Myers. Taking matters into their own hands, the Strode women and other survivors form a vigilante mob to hunt down Michael and end his reign of terror once and for all.

Halloween: Ends – 2022

The world is going to get blessed with another Halloween movie that releases in October. Once again the quintessential duo of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode will battle each other. The plot for the upcoming movie is yet to be announced.

Halloween – 2007

The same title as the first Halloween film released in 1978 but in this part things take place in a different time period. Don’t get confused as this movie can easily be watched later down the roaster.

Plot: After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution and immediately returns to Haddonfield to find his baby sister, Laurie.

Halloween II – 2009

This is a direct sequel to the aforementioned Halloween (2007). The plot picks exactly from the point the previous movie left at.

Plot: Laurie Strode struggles to come to terms with her brother Michael’s deadly return to Haddonfield, Illinois. Meanwhile, Michael prepares for another reunion with his sister.

Halloween III: Season Of The Witch – 1982

At last, there is Halloween III which by the way steers in a complete different direction from the Halloween movies. The main antagonist/protagonist, Michael Myers is also absent from this part. You can watch it as a new title.

Plot: Kids all over America want Silver Shamrock masks for Halloween. Doctor Daniel Challis seeks to uncover a plot by Silver Shamrock owner Conal Cochran.
