Designers Featured In Los Angeles Fashion Week 2022

The major fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan, and Paris each displayed a unique selection of men’s and women’s designer collections for the next Spring/Summer 2023 season as Fashion Month officially came to an end.

Enter Los Angeles Fashion Week, a resurrected addition to the fashion calendar for this year that promotes the work of independent designers, ecological living, and “seasonless” designs. Formerly a small-scale, successful Lebanese fashion show organization, LAFW had been dormant for some years, but is now under new management and is set to emerge as a beacon of elite runway productions and brand activations on par with New York and its international rivals.

The new LA men’s Fashion Week program, run by N4XT Experiences, featured designer collections presented by Public School’s Maxwell Osborne, Gypsy Sport, Sami Miró x Levi’s, and other names. Aside from hosting events before and after the official LA Fashion Week schedule, brands like Ralph Lauren, Golden Goose, Obey x Hublot, and others also participated in the official aritzia Fashion Week programming. Below, you can see some of the best moments from this year’s California runway shows.

Maxwell Osborne, a co-founder of Public School, participated in bi-coastal Fashion Month by debuting the first half of his SS23 collection during NYFW and the second half in California. The entire collection by Osborne was made from deadstock materials, creatively adhering to California’s already-established environmental ethic. It features unique styles of perforated leather tops, bell-sleeved crop tops for women, multi-pocket cargo pants, velvet half-zip pullovers, and women’s crop tops with bell sleeves.

Golden Goose, an Italian fashion brand, has developed a cult following for its deconstructed style of sneakers. Each shoe is made from high-end materials, despite its worn-in appearance, and the LA streetwear community, especially teenage skateboarders, have taken to its air of understated luxury. The brand organized a skate-meets-fashion takeover event at LA’s renowned Pink Motel as part of LA Fashion Week to salute its west coast followers and celebrate LA culture.

Gypsy Sport:

Along with other well-known brands like Telfar, Hood By Air, and Luar, Rio Uribe’s renowned Gypsy Sports brand enjoyed fame. Making a lively comeback to the runway, Uribe highlighted clothing that was a fusion of LA street style and Latinx inclusivity for Gypsy Sport’s most recent presentation. The collection also included many pairs of Nike Air Max sneakers with the Gypsy Sport emblem stamped in cranberry red and white.

During LA Fashion Week, Hublot and Shepard Fairey of OBEY unveiled the third version of their limited-edition watch project, the “Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph All Black Shepard Fairey.” The new Hublot x Shepard Fairey “All Black” watch features an interlocking Mandala centerpiece with a 4Hz “HUB1155” chronograph movement, a monotone black ceramic finish, and a sapphire open case back. The limited-edition series number seen on each of the 52 watches now on the market serves as a reminder of this.
