Mark Blumstein and Ariel Rodriguez were the two candidates running for the Circuit Court Judge position in Miami-Dade County. Mark Blumstein, who previously held office on this seat, is re-running for it. Rodriguez, however, swept the primary election for judge of the Florida 11th Circuit Court. He received 51.5% of the vote, while Blumstein received 48.5% of the total.

Ariel Rodriguez Political Party:
Ariel Rodriguez is an attorney for the federal government who has been working in the fields of bankruptcy and commercial litigation for approximately 23 years. He has expertise in both trial and appellate court practice as a former law clerk to United States Bankruptcy Judge Stephen S. Mitchell and as an attorney in private practice. He received a Bachelor of Science in his undergraduate studies from Cornell University and a Cum laude from Notre Dame Law School. He attended Monsignor Edward Pace High School and graduated in 1990. In the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, at the City of Doral Police Service Aide Academy, at the Brownsville Middle School Law Academy, and for regional institutions, he has worked as a guardian ad litem.
Ariel has been officiating college and high school football as a volunteer for nearly 10 years, notably for the Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which is mostly made up of historically black colleges and universities and high schools in Miami-Dade County.Ariel is a graduate of the Citizens Police Academy of the City of Doral and the Miami-Dade Police and has worked as an admissions ambassador for Cornell University.

Originally from the United States, Miami-Dade County resident Judge Mark Blumstein has lived there all of his life. He is the first of his parents’ two children, both of whom are Jewish and were born in Cuba but immigrated to the US in the early 1940s. In the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Navy, Mark began practising law (JAG). When Mark was chosen to serve as our Circuit Court Judge in 2017, he resigned from the United States Armed Forces after more than twenty (20) years of distinguished service in the U.S. Navy, both on active duty and in the reserves. Mark has a plethora of legal expertise that has served him well as our Judge. He has worked in the public and private sectors, in state and federal courts, and in the areas of criminal, civil, family, probate, and international law. Mark is dedicated to service, which is why he wants to keep holding the position of Circuit Court Judge in Miami-Dade County. Mark asserted that he has served our nation, state, and community honorably together with his wife of over 25 years and their three children, and he will continue to do so as a judge.
Results:
In the race for the position of Circuit Court Judge of Miami-Dade County , Mark Blumstein received 127,520 votes. Ariel Rodriguez, however, prevailed with 135,238 votes.
